What is a power Generator?
Next to fire, electricity is second most essential thing human needs these days. Without it, you cannot run your refrigerator and preserve food. You cannot run engines or power light. There are a lot of things that you cannot do if you don't have electricity. Because of the need, you have to have one important device in your home or establishment: a power generator
What is a power generator?
It is a device that can transform a mechanical to electrical energy. The principle is based on the discovery of Faraday. In his experiment, he noticed that if a magnet moves along a wire coil, the contact produces electrical current.
What are the many ways to generate power?
Besides the fact that there are already plenty of power generation systems that you can choose from, there are also several ways on how you can make it run. Some of them are found below:
Petroleum. There are some generators that operate when you feed petroleum into them. A number of power plants these days make use of this one. You get petroleum oil when you are going to process the crude oil. Around 2 percent of the electrical plants all over the United States are currently using petroleum to give electricity to different homes.
Natural Gas. You don't actually feed the natural gas directly into the power generator. Rather, you are going to heat it and allow the gas to produce other combustible gases, which, in turn, will pas through a turbine. When this turbine will start to spin, it will also produce electricity. Most of the power plants in the United States are using natural gas to run their power generators.
Renewable Forms of Energy. Because of the issues in global warming that can be caused by burning coals, there are already several power plants and even homes and commercial buildings that are adapting a new method of running their power generator. They use renewable sources, such as the sun, water, wind, and biomass. As the name suggests, you will never run out of these forms of energy, so you can have steady supply of electricity. They are also very easy to procure. As long as there's water, air, and sun around you, your power generator can still be turned on. The only downside with them is that the installation can be pretty expensive. Nevertheless, you can use the power for as long as you want. This is also the kind of setup that is being used by those who are off the grid.
When it comes to the capacity of a power generator, you have to look on your needs. If you're just going to use it in a home, you don't need a lot of watts. You may even go for portable power generators if you don't get easily annoyed by blackouts, and you only have to run a number of appliances. However, if you're a power plant or a factory, you need a more reliable, durable, and efficient power generators.
